Toronto, September 9, 2014 – When you get a call during TIFF to haul your ass out of bed and get to a party ASAP – you do it. Especially when that call is from a friend at a King West restaurant and bar and said party is hosted by Sony Pictures Classics.
Foxcatcher is one of the best films to come out of Cannes (our coverage here) and lucky for us, it’s being screened here at TIFF 2014. Staring Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, and Mark Ruffalo, Foxcatcher is based on the true story of Mark Schultz, an Olympic wrestler whose relationship with sponsor John du Pont and brother Dave Schultz would lead to unlikely circumstances.
Last night’s official Foxcatcher after-party kicked off with a surprise appearance from national hero Wayne Gretzky and wife Janet (Jones) Gretzky, along with the cast of Foxcatcher. Also in attendance, Michael Budman (Roots), Kardinal Officshall, Jason Reitman and many others. Heineken, Absolut Elyx, and Perrier-Jouët were flowing all night as those with VIP access revelled in the opportunity to mix it up with the stars. Particularly heartthrob Channing Tatum. Great event with such a laid back feel. Thanks for the invite and the premium antipasti.
