New York, February 15, 2014 – At last month’s Diesel Black Gold FW14 Men’s collection in Florence, Andreas Melbostad debuted his first menswear collection. He spoke of a new cohesion for Diesel Black Gold (DBG) between the men’s and women’s collections. This is evident for Fall/Winter 2014 where both collections have a very space age feel to them with key pieces that look they’ve been fashioned out of astronaut suits.
Women’s ready-t0-wear compliments the menswear nicely. It’s a nostalgic idea of futurism with fashion engineered to articulate the silhouette. One can sum up the collection in one word – texture. Laminated lacquered and metallic surfaces, classic wool felt and flannels, leathers, silks, neoprene and studded metal discs make you want to reach out and touch these pieces. DBG FW14 is pure monochrome metallic, black, white, charcoal, silver and gunmetal. If you’re looking for something with a pop of colour, you’ll have to dig through your closet for it.
Highlights include the very Saint Laurent looking metal toecap flat boots complete with buckles and zippers. We also love the outerwear, trousers and skirts. A lot!
